Gray AES is looking to add a Mechanical Engineer-MEP to our Atlanta, GA, Dallas, TX, Fullerton, CA and Lexington, KY Office. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineering License is required.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in mechanical design within industrial or commercial projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Bluebeam and 3D building modeling software (e.g., Revit) and experience with BIM workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience of building codes and standards (IBC, ASHRAE, NFPA), and client-specific design requirements.
  • Ability to perform load calculations and cost analysis using appropriate software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills for system analysis, cost modeling, and performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring junior engineers and managing design teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in load calculation and cost analysis software.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design efforts for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements and building codes.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated design solutions.
  • Perform advanced heating/cooling load calculations and energy code compliance assessments.
  • Collaborate with the owner and project team to ensure systems are cost-effective and explore value engineering options.
  • Use BIM and AutoCAD to incorporate designs into project models and drawings.
  • Select and specify mechanical equipment; design air distribution and piping systems.
  • Develop control drawings and system diagrams.
  • Update and maintain engineering design standards.
  • Perform and document design calculations to ensure compliance with applicable codes and client specifications.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of design documents, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to meet project schedules and deliver complete, coordinated design packages.
  • Review and respond to contractor RFIs, shop drawings, and product submittals, ensuring design intent is maintained.
  • Participate in client meetings and design reviews, providing technical input and supporting project delivery.
  • Support the development and refinement of internal design standards and best practices.
  • Assist in mentoring junior engineers and designers, contributing to team growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
