This role supports roadway, maintenance, and bridge design staff in hydrology and hydraulic principles and design. The Engineer Hydraulics will develop and design hydraulic models and drainage design elements for right-of-way and construction roadway plans. This position also involves reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic designs prepared by others, overseeing hydraulics-related issues to ensure compliance with processes, schedules, budgets, design criteria, standards, and specifications. Additionally, the role provides technical advice, guidance, and training in assigned engineering program areas, prepares analyses, reports, and recommendations, and offers engineering support and consultation. Effective management of assigned projects to ensure timely and accurate completion is crucial. Communication with internal VDOT staff, local government staff, consultants, citizens, and FHWA regarding transportation projects and programs is a key aspect of this position.
