About The Position

The Engineer Electrical 3 researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. The role also designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. The position is with Newport News Shipbuilding’s E50 Propulsion and Reactor Engineering Planning Yard team and is not eligible for telework. Travel of up to 10% is required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; or a master’s degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; or a Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
• A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required by Newport News Shipbuilding.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with U.S. Navy nuclear propulsion plant systems and components, including reactor plant systems and steam and electric plant systems.
• Good writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Ability to work with multiple customers and organizations, including the U.S. Government and Navy personnel.
• Experience conducting Reliability Centered Maintenance analyses using a systems approach to support applicable and effective maintenance strategies that maximize ship mission operational availability while minimizing cost.
