About The Position

ArcelorMittal Calvert is seeking an Engineer to design, build, and evolve digital applications by leveraging modern AI capabilities. This role involves working closely with operations, process technology, and business stakeholders to deliver practical, scalable solutions within a steel manufacturing environment. Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent experience
Experience with Python and/or C#/.NET development
Proven ability to troubleshoot, understand, and modify existing systems and codebases
Hands-on experience with Git-based source control (GitHub and/or GitLab)
Experience working across both new development and existing applications
Exposure to or interest in AI development (LLMs, prompts, automation, AI-assisted coding)
Strong problem-solving mindset focused on delivering practical business outcomes
Ability to work in less-defined environments (prototype to production)
Comfortable balancing speed of delivery with maintainability and quality
Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Takes initiative in identifying opportunities and driving solutions end-to-end
Demonstrates adaptability in a rapidly evolving AI-driven development landscape
Strong ownership mindset — takes responsibility for systems, not just code

Nice To Haves

Experience working with OT / industrial environments preferred
Experience in steel industry strongly preferred
Experience building or using AI agents / copilots
Background in machine learning, computer vision, or process optimization
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
Experience designing systems with APIs and modular architecture
Exposure to automation of build, testing, or deployment processes

Responsibilities

Design and develop digital solutions leveraging AI tools and modern development practices
Build and deploy AI-enabled applications to improve operational and business processes
Develop and maintain AI-driven utilities, automations, and workflows
Troubleshoot, enhance, and modernize existing applications and systems
Work directly with operations, OT, and business teams to understand problems
Rapidly prototype and iterate using AI-assisted development approaches
Improve systems to be more modular, structured, and ready for AI integration
Contribute to evolving engineering practices around automation and development workflows
Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with cybersecurity standards
