About the position
The computer vision engineer will be part of the Advanced Research Team within Samsung's Mobile Platform and Solutions division, focusing on computer vision related XR technologies for building next-generation head-mounted displays. The role involves researching and developing on-device computer vision and machine learning technologies across Samsung's products, with a particular emphasis on 3D computer vision tools and techniques. The engineer will contribute to creating innovative solutions with prototype and production-level reliability for AR/VR solutions, and should have a solid foundation in computer vision, deep learning algorithms, and software development. Experience with imaging sensors, depth sensors, graphics pipeline, and Unity or Blender is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Research and develop on-device computer vision and machine learning technologies across Samsung's products
- Balance research and product to create innovative solutions with prototype and production-level reliability for AR/VR solutions
- Focus on 3D computer vision tools and techniques
- Have a solid foundation in computer vision, including camera tracking, multiple view geometry, 3D scene comprehension, camera calibration, camera transformation, etc.
- Have a solid understanding of deep learning algorithms and experience with bringing machine learning technologies into research and product systems, including depth from image, object recognition, panoptic segmentation, etc. NeRF experience is a plus
- Have experience with imaging sensors and depth sensors
- Have a solid foundation in software development and related tools
- Be proficient in C, C++ programming language and at least one other prototyping language such as Python
- Have strong teamwork, communication skills, passion, productivity, and self-learning ability
- Have experience with graphics pipeline, GPGPU computing with OpenCL and Vulkan, OpenXR is a plus
- Have experience with Unity or Blender is a plus
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in computer vision, machine learning, or related fields, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 5+ years of experience
- Solid foundation in computer vision; key areas of interest include camera tracking, multiple view geometry, 3D scene comprehension, camera calibration, camera transformation, etc.
- Solid understanding of deep learning algorithms and experience with bringing machine learning technologies into research, product systems. This includes depth from image, object recognition, panoptic segmentation, etc. NeRF experience is a plus
- Experience with imaging sensors and depth sensors desirable
- Solid foundation in software development and related tools
- Proficiency in C, C++ programming language and at least one another prototyping language such as Python
