About The Position

Component Engineers direct implementation of assigned programs and work processes. Major Programs include breakers, large pumps and motors, air or motor operated valves, I&C subcomponents, HVAC/chillers, heat exchangers, breakers as well as condition-based maintenance technologies such as vibration, thermography, motor monitoring, and oil analysis. Engineering tasks will include direct or indirect interface with the corrective action process and work scheduling. Component Engineers will be responsible for maintaining equipment reliability, ensuring regulatory compliance, have knowledge and application of industry best practices, budgets, and for the performance or oversight of inspections of plant equipment. Component Engineers typically look for long-term performance improvements and work on key refueling outage assignments. Engineering responsibilities will also include on-call Duty rotations and Emergency Plan response requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or PE License required.
  • Background in engineering with working knowledge of applicable discipline codes and standards.
  • Ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions based on experience and appropriate industry practices.
  • Experience with valves, pumps, motors, HVAC/chillers, heat exchangers, and/or breakers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven organizational skills with ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Capable of working efficiently and effectively across organizations.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products, specifically WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT.
  • Places highest priority on nuclear and industrial safety.
  • Accepts ownership of assigned programs, projects and tasks.
  • Develops strategy for optimum use of resources.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Uses rigor and formality when performing work to minimize errors.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering discipline preferred.
  • Experience with valves, pumps, motors, HVAC/chillers, heat exchangers, and/or breakers preferred.
  • Previous experience in systems engineering, programs engineering, or component engineering preferred.
  • Experience and working knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section XI is a plus.
  • Working knowledge in Nuclear Plant Systems, structures and components preferred.
