About The Position

The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study. The Co-op student will work with Operation Engineer on distribution system protection, protection coordination, power quality, and reliability. They will investigate reliability referrals, develop action plans to remedy issues, create work requests to implement proposed solutions, and respond to customers once issues have been resolved.

Requirements

Enrolled in an ABET accredited university or college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
Enrollment in the university’s co-op program is a must.
Degree: Engineering Related Discipline: Electrical Engineer
Year in School: Junior or Senior
Microsoft Office
Basic Understanding of Power Systems

Responsibilities

Create and/or process work requests in work management software.
Estimate electrical loads for customers and determine actual or proposed ﬁeld measurements.
Model proposed designs in the appropriate software to meet customer needs and ensure all results follow respective regulatory requirements.
Produce construction prints for ﬁeld construction of proposed designs and attend weekly work scheduling meetings.
Assist TEC Distribution Design staﬀ as needed.
