About The Position

The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study. This position is critical in meeting certain business functions while working directly with a Distribution Operation Engineer.

Requirements

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline for the first semester the student joins the program.
To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
Engineering Preferred/Related Discipline: Electrical Engineering

Responsibilities

Create and/or process work requests in work management software.
Model the electrical system in appropriate software to determine appropriate protection settings and fuse sizes.
Model proposed designs in the appropriate software to meet customer needs and ensure all results follow respective regulatory requirements.
Produce construction prints for ﬁeld construction of proposed designs.
Assist TEC Distribution Design staﬀ as needed.
Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our TECO Energy customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
