About The Position

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is seeking two Engineer (Capital / Scope) to join the Drainage Planning and Modeling / Capital / Scope Engineering team. Successful candidates will report to the Engineer-In-Charge and will work on complex project planning and preliminary design analysis. The Engineers (Capital / Scope) will support multiple City initiatives and Sponsor Agencies, such as the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) by managing and participating in Capital Project Scope Development (CPSD) studies and alternative analyses for roadway, sewer, and water main projects. The CPSD program aims to integrate multiple city initiatives and forthcoming regulations with capital projects, while maintaining alignment with the long-term goals of the respective sponsor agency. Additionally, the candidates will conduct research through data collection, field investigations of existing conditions, and review of historical documents; perform drainage, grading, constructability, feasibility, alternative, and cost benefit analyses; develop planning level project schedules and phasing strategies; and prepare and deliver reports and visual materials, including PowerPoint presentations, CAD plans, profiles, cross sections, hydraulic modeling outputs, GIS exhibits, and project schedules. The candidates will manage consultant task assignments and contract related coordination, track progress and milestones, and review deliverables submitted by design consultants to ensure technical quality, consistency, and timely completion. They will also engage in and present at meetings with sponsor agencies, stakeholders, and design consultants. Lastly, where applicable, the candidates will also aid in research and development efforts for the advancing and adoption of new technologies in infrastructure projects.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required.
