About The Position

The Engineer – Blade Repair Development Engineering is responsible for supporting the development, testing, validation, and continuous improvement of wind blade repair processes and repair technologies. In this role, you will plan and execute validation activities, analyze test results, support field and shop repair assessments, and help establish defect acceptance criteria and repair process requirements. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, fleet performance, sourcing, and field operations teams to validate repair methods, improve process robustness, and support safe, effective, and repeatable blade repair solutions across the fleet.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Experience with composite materials, composite processing, adhesives, bonded structures, or structural repairs.
  • Familiarity with test methods, validation planning, data analysis, and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, root cause analysis methodologies, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

  • Support testing and validation activities for blade repair engineering, including development of validation plans, test objectives, methods, and reporting.
  • Develop sub-article and component-level test plans, schedules, success criteria, and final results documentation.
  • Perform engineering analysis and analytical evaluation of test results to assess repair performance, structural behavior, and process capability.
  • Contribute to and lead projects focused on development of new blade repair processes, methods, tools, and materials.
  • Support root cause analysis of emerging blade issues, including evaluation of failed field repairs and identification of improvement opportunities.
  • Develop, test, and evaluate new repair concepts in shop-floor and prototype manufacturing environments to assess feasibility, repeatability, and manufacturability.
  • Support development and execution of PFMEA activities for blade repair processes and validation programs.
  • Support fleet performance through repair process troubleshooting, field feedback review, continuous improvement efforts, and prototype field trial evaluation.
  • Validate defect acceptance criteria through testing and engineering analysis and support technical underwriting decisions related to repairability and risk.
  • Participate in and support shop trials, including planning, coordination, execution, issue resolution, and follow-up.
  • Support updates to work direction instructions, engineering documentation, and related program communications.
  • Document validation activities, engineering conclusions, lessons learned, and recommendations in clear technical reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure repair validation work aligns with product requirements, safety expectations, quality standards, and field execution needs.
  • Support qualification of repair materials, equipment, and processing methods used in blade repair development and deployment.
  • Take on technical assignments, as needed, to support team and business objectives.
