About The Position

GDI Services, INC. is seeking an engineer for Fort 211 in Detroit. The role involves operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting HVAC chiller systems and related equipment. Experienced candidates are preferred, but GDI will train the right candidate. This is a Local 324 job with full benefits. Requirements

• Must pass a drug screen and background check.
• First-class refrigeration qualification/license, including a First Class Refrigeration license in the City of Detroit.
• Third-class Boiler License.
• Strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Experience is preferred, although the employer will train the right candidate.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering and HVAC systems.
• Electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of refrigeration principles.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
• EPA Section 608 Certification for refrigerants in the U.S., depending on location.
• Experience with waxing or buffing.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC chiller systems.
• Inspect compressors, pumps, cooling towers, valves, and controls.
• Check refrigerant levels, pressures, temperatures, and system efficiency.
• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems.
• Work with building automation systems.
