Engineer 2 - Transmission Line

Pike•Baxter Village, SC

About The Position

Provide transmission line design, engineering, technical support, and oversight to a transmission engineering and design team to deliver safe, cost-effective, high-quality engineering and design services. The role provides technical competency and direction on complex engineering and technical problems for transmission line projects, including renewable energy interconnections and grid modernization opportunities. The incumbent is expected to eventually lead discipline work, perform engineering duties, manage project schedules and budgets, and support proposal development and project cost estimating. Under minimum supervision in power transmission and substations, the engineer identifies, analyzes, and resolves problems; plans, organizes, estimates, schedules, and monitors work; and prepares accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches. The role involves creating and understanding transmission line drawing packages, communicating with customer engineers and technical personnel, maintaining customer relationships, monitoring deliverables and schedules, and presenting solutions to clients. Other duties may be assigned by management. The work is described as complex, with established procedures unavailable and major decision-making required. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university is required, along with 1–3 years of engineering experience in the electrical industry in power delivery. An EIT certification and progress toward a Professional Engineering (PE) license are preferred. The posting also lists desired experience and qualifications in transmission line design, engineering software, standards, project delivery, construction support, and collaboration with clients and other disciplines.
