About The Position

The Engineer 1 - Room Call Mechanic handles guest and property maintenance calls and work orders at Ameristar Casino Resort Spa. The role requires direct interaction with guests, prioritizing multiple requests, and completing basic plumbing, electrical, and handyman repairs in guest rooms and other property areas. The mechanic may assist with larger projects and pool and spa maintenance as business levels allow, and is expected to support other Facilities department areas when needed. This is a uniformed position requiring compliance with appearance standards while on duty.

Requirements

At least 1 year of facilities maintenance experience in hospitality or a related field.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure, prioritize multiple calls and work orders, and sustain a high level of energy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Ability to take a proactive and strategic approach to issues.
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with Team Members at all organizational levels.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Ability to perform light plumbing and electrical repairs and basic handyman work.
Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Must be 18 or older; certain beverage positions at the property require team members to be 21 or older.

Responsibilities

Respond to guest and property maintenance calls and work orders, prioritizing requests when multiple calls are received.
Unclog toilets and drains; replace light bulbs; repair leaking plumbing fixtures; and replace light switches and receptacles in guest rooms and other property areas.
Perform light plumbing and electrical repairs and basic handyman work.
Assist with larger projects as business levels allow.
Help maintain pools and spas.
Assist other areas of the Facilities department when needed.
Interact professionally with guests and work alone or collaboratively as part of a team.
Follow uniformed appearance standards while on duty.
