About The Position

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in Kearny, NJ. This role will initially start on a 7AM - 3:30PM shift before eventually moving to an 11AM - 7:30PM shift. Applicants must be open to working both shifts. In this role, you will make an impact by completing repairs on engine products in a service shop, performing maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools, maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles, adhering to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies, and undergoing ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products. You will also be responsible for maintaining your own tools.

Requirements

  • Minimal level of work shop experience required
  • Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
  • This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements.
  • This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.

  • Apprentice Trained Engine Technician
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
  • Locally valid driving permit

Responsibilities

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools
  • Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics
  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality
  • Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources.
  • Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level.
  • Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts.
  • Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software
