About The Position

Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions is looking for a Workshop Technician in White Pine, TN. This role is for a flexible, self-motivated technician with a collaborative nature and time leadership skills. Sandvik is a global leader in equipment and tools, parts, service, and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries, with applications in rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunneling, and quarrying. The Workshop Technician will perform basic repair and maintenance on equipment and components under the guidance of more senior technicians, either in the workshop or on-site.

Requirements

  • 0-2 Years experience repairing and maintaining heavy-duty mobile or fixed industrial equipment such as: mining equipment (loaders, haul trucks, drills, bolters), OR construction equipment OR industrial engines, power generation, or material handling equipment (Heavy-duty only, not light)
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems and mechanical drivetrains.
  • Proven ability to work safely on large, high-risk equipment with strict compliance expectations.
  • Less than 2 years of industry experience.
  • High school diploma or technical training or technical college.
  • In training for a trade certification or just certified with little equipment experience or Entry Level Trades – Relevant Trade Certificate.
  • Limited to basic equipment knowledge and skills to be developed in at least one equipment type. (Automation as priority)

Nice To Haves

  • 0-2 Years of Sandvik Equipment Experience
  • Ability to diagnose basic to moderate mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults using manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools
  • Proficiency in performing major component repairs (e.g., engines, pumps, transmissions, undercarriage, structural components or similar) including disassembling and reassembling
  • Experience working with Original Equipment Manufacturer service manuals, technical bulletins, and torque/specification standards and charts
  • Working knowledge of industrial and mining safety standards (e.g., lock‑out/tag‑out, confined space, working at heights)
  • Welding or fabrication skills (structural repairs, modifications) are an advantage
  • Experience supporting planned and reactive maintenance programs in an industrial setting
  • Familiarity with high‑hour, high‑load equipment operating in harsh conditions
  • Direct experience in mining, quarrying, heavy construction, oil & gas, port operations, or power generation
  • Familiarity with industrial tooling and equipment (overhead cranes, presses, lifting devices, precision measurement tools)

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of basic repair and maintenance activities on equipment and components, following defined specifications covering mechanical and other trades, under the guidance of more senior technicians.
  • Work from verbal instructions but may receive written maintenance instructions for routine workshop activities.
  • Assemble and transport materials handling equipment.
  • Use a variety of simple trade tools.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and parts.
  • May be assigned to a specific trade area (e.g., mechanical) and carry out some routine aspects of the trade activity.
  • Apply basic knowledge of a part of the service technician area, such as mechanics/materials.
  • Complete basic reports and/or documents of work completed, as needed.
  • Learn about routine work procedures (using the tools provided), and start working according to safety standards.
  • Learn how to prepare and execute all activities in line with Health & Safety rules, regulations, procedures, instructions, guidelines and promote awareness to others.
