About The Position

Assembles internal combustion engines according to standard procedures. This role involves preparing and positioning various crankcases, pressing gears, inserting cylinder sleeves, fitting pistons and connecting rods, aligning engine parts, and examining parts for defects. The assembler will also bolt subassemblies to the engine and must maintain a clean work area while completing tasks in accordance with standards and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, reach, and grasp
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Adherence to ISO procedures
  • Use of mechanics hand tools
  • Use of power hoist
  • Use of hand or hydraulic press
  • Use of torque wrench

Responsibilities

  • Assembles internal combustion engines according to standard procedures
  • Prepares and positions various crankcases for the initial stage of engine assembly using mechanics hand tools and power hoist
  • Presses gears, sheave, flywheel, and sprockets to shaft using hand or hydraulic press and locks them with keys or pins
  • Inserts cylinder sleeves into engine block or casing and fits piston and connecting rod assembly into cylinder and bolts it to crankshaft
  • Aligns engine parts, such as camshaft and crankshaft gears, and sets timing and clearances between fixed and moving parts
  • Examines parts or observes movement of completed assemblies to detect malfunction, and discards or replaces defective parts or assemblies according to ISO procedures
  • Bolts subassemblies, such as cylinder head, carburetor, and governor to engine, using torque wrench or other hand tools
  • Completes tasks in accordance to standards
  • Maintains a clean work area
  • Performs other duties as assigned
