About The Position

The Engagement & Volunteer Advisor supports the implementation of Oxfam America’s Brand & Engagement strategy by helping deliver volunteer-powered engagement experiences and brand activation initiatives. This role operates under the leadership of the Senior Manager, Brand & Engagement, who sets the strategic direction for flagship programs including all cultural outreach, the Oxfam Hunger Banquet, and many broader brand activation initiatives. The Engagement & Volunteer Advisor supports the development and execution of brand initiatives and experiential engagement programs, with responsibility for ensuring strong delivery, consistency, and quality of volunteer-facing experience. Anchored in the Oxfam Hunger Banquet program, this role contributes to that implementation and ongoing improvement of volunteer tools, trainings, communications, and activation workflows. The Advisor helps ensure that the brand and community activation initiatives are well-organized, volunteer-ready, and aligned with Oxfam’s brand, values, and engagement goals. This position plays a key role in delivering a consistent and high-quality volunteer experience across brand initiatives and connecting participation opportunities to broader engagement and organizing pathways. The Advisor plays a key role in translating strategic brand and engagement priorities into actionable volunteer experiences that can scale across markets. This role contributes to activation efforts nationally, with a focus for the next few years on priority markets including Los Angeles, Austin, Philadelphia, Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of work experience, education, and training.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, events, organizing, or brand activation.
  • 2+ years project management experience required; acts as key contributor to unit/function projects; may develop and lead projects; works in cross-department coordination
  • Experience running and/or systematizing volunteer-led or community-based programs, in person and online.
  • Experience delivering and implementing brand and engagement activations.
  • Proficiency in digital tools for engagement and communication (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot, Goodkind, Mobile Commons, Microsoft suite, email/SMS tools, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to represent Oxfam in a variety of settings and with diverse audiences.
  • Good judgment, initiative and ability to anticipate problems and follow through with confidence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional remote team.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Oxfam America’s Hunger Banquet program under the strategic leadership of the Senior Manager, Brand & Engagement.
  • Maintain and strategically update Oxfam Hunger Banquet toolkits, training materials, facilitation guides, and brand assets.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Oxfam Hunger Banquet hosts and facilitators, ensuring readiness, alignment with brand standards, and a strong participant experience.
  • Track and analyze participation, engagement and feedback to inform program improvements and scalability.
  • Support the execution and delivery of volunteer-integrated brand and community activation initiatives, including third-space events, cultural activations, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Ensure brand activations include clear volunteer roles, timelines, communications, and follow-up steps.
  • Partner with Organizing, Events, Music Outreach, and Strategic Partnerships colleagues to integrate volunteer engagement into brand initiatives.
  • Contribute to the adaptation and scaling of activation models across priority markets.
  • Support the delivery of clear, timely, and engaging communications to volunteers participating in brand and community activation initiatives.
  • Facilitate volunteer onboarding, scheduling, and readiness for in-person and virtual activation, ensuring volunteers are well-prepared and supported.
  • Help ensure volunteers receive timely information, clear expectations, and follow-up communications.
  • Contribute to pathways that move volunteers from initial participation into deeper engagement and organizing opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Engagement & Organizing Advisor and team to align volunteer roles and messaging.
  • Support data tracking, reporting, and CRM hygiene related to volunteer participation, ensuring accuracy and usability of engagement data across teams.
  • Share feedback from volunteers to inform learning and program improvement.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and values-aligned volunteer experience.
  • Assist with tracking engagement metrics related to Hunger Banquets and other brand activations.
  • Support collection of volunteer and participant feedback.
  • Contribute to iterative improvements to tools, trainings, and activation workflows, helping refine scalable models for volunteer-powered engagement.
