About The Position

The SAP Engagement Director is responsible for overseeing projects within a defined industry vertical for a specified group of customers. This role partners closely with the Vice President, Delivery, Sales, and client stakeholders to provide delivery expertise, support accurate project estimating, and help shape successful proposals and RFP responses. The Engagement Director also plays a key role in client relationship management, resource planning, escalation handling, and team leadership to ensure strong delivery outcomes and high customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of project management experience within the SAP environment; consulting experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience leading at least three full life cycle SAP project implementations.
  • 5+ years of client management experience.
  • Hands-on functional experience in at least one SAP module.
  • Strong experience supporting delivery, client engagement, and resource coordination across complex projects.
  • Proven ability to manage client expectations, resolve escalations, and support successful project outcomes.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a consulting or professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with SAP Public Cloud methodology, including CALM.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Vice President, Delivery and Sales teams to support the sales qualification process for new opportunities.
  • Provide delivery expertise to help estimate project timelines, budgets, scope, and resource requirements.
  • Identify Syntax resources and coordinate their availability to support RFP responses and upcoming project demands.
  • Lead and manage the team response process for RFPs, ensuring all deliverables and timelines are met.
  • Participate in the preparation and presentation of sales materials for prospective new projects.
  • Attend client and sales meetings with Account Executives to better understand project scope and client needs.
  • Maintain ongoing client relationships and support client management activities to help ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for issues that cannot be resolved by the project team.
  • Provide guidance to Syntax project managers and delivery teams in resolving issues, risks, and escalations.
  • Work closely with the Director, Project Management Office, Solution Architects, and Competency Leads to assess resource availability for upcoming work.
  • Participate in Steering Committee meetings and project team meetings as required.
  • Provide project management support when needed, including vacation relief and escalation support.
  • Coach team members, evaluate performance, and reinforce Syntax values through day-to-day leadership and communication.
  • Proactively manage stakeholder satisfaction to support customer references and success stories.
