About The Position

HOLLA School is a public, tuition-free K-5 charter school sponsored by the Reynolds School District. Our foundational belief is ALL children are abundant, brilliant and creative. The HOLLA School mission is To change the academic narratives of Black, Brown and Indigenous youth by honoring lived experiences, catalyzing genius and centering joy. The Engagement Coordinator has an integral role dedicated to fostering scholar success through culturally responsive mentorship, restorative justice practices, and proactive classroom support. The Engagement Coordinator works in partnership with HOLLA School Leadership, Teachers, and Classroom Mentors to proactively support scholar engagement through restorative justice practices and push in support with the goal of reducing the amount of time scholars spend out of class. The Engagement Coordinator also works closely with HOLLA School’s Special Education team to provide wrap around support for scholars received SpEd services. The Engagement Coordinator participates in ongoing education and professional development to continuously expand their practice. The Engagement Coordinator employs restorative practices and healing-centered approaches to manage behavioral challenges, focusing on de-escalation, emotional regulation, and rebuilding community connections. Unstructured times such as lunch/recess provide the Engagement Coordinator time to be present and proactively connect with scholars outside of instructional time. The Engagement Coordinator provides in-class, small group and 1:1 scholar support as needed. The Engagement Coordinator helps build meaningful relationships with the families of the scholars to include families in scholar accountability and support.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, equivalent or higher; or combined relevant experience
  • Working with elementary aged children who experience neurodivergence
  • Using restorative justice practices and a proactive approach to scholar support
  • Commitment to healing-centered engagement and culturally responsive pedagogical practices.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with scholars from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Adaptable and flexible to be able to meet scholars’ and HOLLA School’s needs
  • Exercise sound professional judgment to ensure a safe and positive environment for all scholars
  • Receive direction and feedback with an open mind
  • Comfortable providing redirection to youth that centers on their inherent value and assets
  • Physical requirement of ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • All HOLLA School Staff are subject to a pre-employment background check as part of the pre-employment process as well as on an ongoing basis

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with staff to identify and actively engage scholars who would benefit from additional support to maintain engagement in the classroom
  • Lead small-group conflict resolution conversations using a Restorative Justice framework
  • Provide 1:1 academic and social-emotional check-ins
  • Provide a calming, supportive presence for scholars who need time or space before attempting new tasks
  • Support community field trips and other school staffing needs
  • Provide "push-in" support to teachers and scholars, increasing active presence within the classroom to facilitate engagement and offer immediate behavioral or academic assistance.
  • Facilitate and implement restorative justice frameworks to resolve conflicts, repair harm, and strengthen community relationships within the school environment.
  • Function as a vital point of connection between home and school for families
  • Participate in school events and attend professional development meetings
  • Collect relevant data to track scholar progress and engagement, and create actionable steps as needed
