About The Position

The Engage Life Program Instructor leads resident programs and recreational activities that enhance residents’ lives and support their active aging lifestyle expectations. The instructor develops and delivers activities, encourages participation, welcomes new residents, maintains event schedules and activity records, and helps plan community celebrations and seasonal decorations. The role may include driving a company vehicle to social or other destinations if required by the community, and may include other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, three to six months of related experience and/or training, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned Engage Life programs that are meaningful and interesting to residents.
• Offer adequate and varied recreational activities with sufficient supervision for each activity.
• Develop programs for residents, including programs for residents confined to their rooms when applicable.
• Engage and motivate residents to participate in programs.
• Inform residents of upcoming activities and maintain a current event schedule on the bulletin board.
• Welcome new residents, encourage their involvement in activities, and introduce them to community members with similar interests and backgrounds.
• Assist with planning parties and activities, seasonal and holiday decorations, and monthly birthday parties for residents.
• Assist with Bright Beginnings, including housewarmings.
• Support and actively participate in the community’s census-building initiatives.
• Maintain records of activities, resident participation levels, and resident acceptance of activities as required by state law.
• Assist the Engage Life Director in enlisting volunteers to support the activities program.
• Drive a company vehicle from the community to social or other destinations if required by the community.
• Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
