  • Strong understanding of NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910/1926, and hazardous-energy control programs.
  • Experience with MV/LV systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, ATS, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read one-lines, interpret commissioning documentation, and coordinate across multiple teams.
  • Confident communicator who can lead safety discussions and enforce standards in high-risk environments.
  • Proven experience as an Energy Marshal (or similar role) on data center or mission-critical projects.
  • Experience working on hyperscale or large-scale construction/commissioning sites.
  • 5+ years of Data Center or Mission Critical Construction experience (ability to interpret blueprints, electrical one-lines, construction drawings, etc.).
  • Energy isolations.
  • Energy tracking.
  • MEP systems (power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarms, security, life safety, and control systems).
  • Experience with paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, multi-source electrical utility switchgear, standby diesel generators, etc.
  • Building management systems and automation, electrical controls & frameworks.
  • Substation, transmission, and distribution.
  • Experience in the control of hazardous energy in complex mission-critical infrastructure.
  • NFPA 70E, NEN 3840, NEN 3140, National Electrical Code (NEC), and/or OSHA requirements as they relate to data center best practices.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Manage the project's LOTO program, ensuring all isolations are planned, documented, and properly executed.
  • Maintain the master energy log and communicate real-time energy status to all trades.
  • Review MOPs, SOPs, commissioning scripts, and work plans to identify energy hazards and required controls.
  • Coordinate safe energization sequencing with electrical, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Conduct field audits, verify PPE and arc-flash boundaries, and enforce NFPA 70E compliance.
  • Serve as stop-work authority for any unsafe energy-related activity.
  • Provide training and guidance to subcontractors on hazardous-energy procedures.
  • Oversee and enforce safe energization and LOTO procedures on site.
