About The Position

Our client is seeking a solution-driven Energy Engineer to support clean energy and energy-efficiency programs for a major utility provider in New Jersey. This opportunity is open to junior- and mid-level professionals with experience or a strong interest in energy efficiency, commercial building systems, utilities, or related fields. Provide technical guidance on energy-efficient technologies and practices to customers, architects, engineers, contractors, and trade allies. Prepare and review technical specifications and engineering calculations for commercial and industrial energy-efficiency projects. Validate energy-savings calculations for accuracy and compliance with program requirements and applicable technical reference manuals. Monitor assigned projects and ensure they progress on schedule. Maintain accurate project records by promptly documenting review activities and updates in the CRM system. Develop and maintain relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, customers, service providers, and consultants. Gather program feedback and help identify participant needs. Support and conduct program training for prospective participants, as needed. Evaluate building plans, specifications, and whole-building efficiency strategies. Assist with recommendations for energy-efficiency improvements. Prepare project status reports and monitor progress toward program goals. Support quality-assurance activities, including inspections and customer surveys. Travel throughout the client’s New Jersey service territory as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Energy, Building Science, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Junior level: 0–3 years of relevant experience.
  • Mid-level: 4–5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be a New Jersey resident.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • Responsible for vehicle maintenance and related transportation costs.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with energy-efficiency programs, technologies, and commercial building systems.
  • Experience with energy-efficiency calculations or modeling platforms.
  • Understanding of ASHRAE 90.1 standards.
  • Knowledge of building science principles and sustainable building practices.
  • Internship, academic project, or professional experience involving commercial construction, utilities, or energy programs.
  • Progress toward or interest in obtaining a LEED or Certified Energy Manager certification.
