This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days a week in the office and two days remote. The position requires analyzing power projects, distilling technical concepts into actionable conclusions and recommendations for stakeholders involved in developing, designing, constructing, operating, and financing energy projects in the United States and overseas. The consultant will work with multi-discipline project teams to provide services such as advising power project developers on new utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal, and other projects; evaluating new power and infrastructure projects for financing; modeling economic, technical, and market scenarios for grid operators, utilities, and research agencies; and developing planning studies and business cases for utilities, power producers, and government agencies. In this role, individuals are expected to lead others in using modern tools like automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs. This includes directing automation and process-improvement work, such as automating calculations, summarizing technical documents, or generating design documentation, and guiding the use of AI tools while ensuring results are checked. Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs, is valued but not required. Additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields is also valued.
