About The Position

The Endoscopy Technician is a clinically competent Endoscopy Lab Scope Reprocessing Technician who works under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role delivers skilled and effective reprocessing of OES and video endoscopes, operates reprocessing machines, and performs related functions. The technician also provides direct and indirect patient care in an ambulatory care setting under RN supervision, maintains productivity, helps maintain a safe and clean environment, and participates in continuous quality improvement activities involving endoscopes.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• CPR – Basic Life Support.

• Bachelor of Science degree.

Responsibilities

• Maintain competencies in endoscope reprocessing and operation of scope washers.
• Identify actual or potential problems with endoscope integrity and assist the charge nurse in arranging repairs.
• Maintain documentation regarding endoscope inventory and repairs.
• Use proper patient identification procedures when transporting patients.
• Safely transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher.
• Support the daily schedule by promoting on-time starts and efficient turnover between procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of endotherapy supplies and equipment.
• Locate, obtain, and restock supplies and equipment.
• Perform services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of a physician and/or nurse.
• Maintain a clean and orderly environment.
• Assist the nurse with patient preparation before and after procedures.
