Endoscopy Technician I - Full time
About The Position
The Endoscopy Technician I works under the oversight of a registered nurse, such as an RN/Nurse Manager, RN/Assistant Nurse Manager, RN/Clinical Nurse, or RN/Flex Staff Nurse. The technician assists physicians and registered nurses with endoscopy procedures, repositions patients on stretchers, and maintains an environment conducive to patient safety. The role also assists with admitting and discharging outpatients, including interviewing patients and documenting information in their charts. The position reports to an RN/Assistant Nurse Manager or RN/Nurse Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities. Within six months after hire, the technician must demonstrate competency in PEG, EGD, colonoscopies, and bronchoscopies. Failure to meet the competency requirements may result in an action plan and evaluation of employment status, up to and including corrective action or termination.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- No experience is required at hire.
- Demonstrate competency in PEG, EGD, colonoscopies, and bronchoscopies within 180 days (six months) after hire.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a formal endoscopy technician training program.
- Endoscopy technician experience.
- Endoscopy technician certification from CPSPD, SGNA, HSPA, and/or IAHCSMM.
- Nursing assistant certification.
