About The Position

The Encapsulation Operator is responsible for operating the soft capsule machines as part of a two-person team. This role involves ensuring the quality of capsules produced by properly following relevant SOPs. The position is 100% on-site in Windsor, Ontario, and operates on a 12-hour rotating continental shift schedule (Days and Nights).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED/CAEC and/or educational credential assessment (ECA) is required.
  • Strong mathematical skills in order to compute simple calculations (adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, percent and averages).
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Possess a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy and good communication (written and verbal).
  • Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation confirming the Canadian equivalency of the credentials as determined by the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC) such as WES.
  • The employee's role frequently involves sitting and utilizing hands and fingers for tasks such as handling, feeling, and keyboard manipulation, necessitating manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally, the position requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, alongside close vision capabilities and potential exposure to chemicals.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility is preferred.
  • Knowledge of automation systems an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Confer with the operator from the previous shift during shift change to discuss necessary facts and current events related to the soft capsule machine’s operation.
  • Ensure all setups are prepared for the incoming shift and change or clean machine parts as required based on the type of changeover.
  • Spread capsules on trays, stack and label the trays, and transfer the stacks to the assigned drying tunnel.
  • Inspect capsules for quality, weight, proper seams, and dimensions as required, and record all findings.
  • Troubleshoot, correct problems, make repairs, or issue repair orders on soft capsule machines and related equipment.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping including cleaning machines, floors, tumblers, handling scrap net and garbage.
  • Assist with training of employees.
  • Comply with all SOPs and GMPs and maintain all required operating records.
  • May be asked to work extended hours (overtime), especially when problems occur or when deadlines must be met.
  • Perform other duties as required.
