About The Position

Superior Ambulance Service is hiring EMTs for opportunities in Highland, Merrillville, and Portage, including 911 opportunities. EMTs provide safe transportation and quality medical care to sick and injured individuals within the scope of state EMS regulations. The company also provides scheduled medical transports. Superior Ambulance Service began in 1959 and is described as the largest independent, locally owned and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest, employing more than 4,000 licensed EMTs, Paramedics, and Nurses and operating more than 800 ambulances across Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. It also provides critical care, helicopter, and fixed-wing emergency medical transportation.

Requirements

Hold NREMT certification or a current state license; pending credentials are accepted.
Be able to provide medical care at the EMT or Paramedic level while safely transporting patients.
Have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Be able to safely operate a vehicle in daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather conditions.
Pass a pre-employment interview, physical and lifting examination, and drug screening.
Attend company-provided training and a driving course.

Responsibilities

Provide appropriate patient care within EMT training.
Transport patients safely and efficiently, using map-reading skills and correctly identifying street names, house numbers, and business addresses.
Assess patients appropriately and accurately communicate their condition to other medical professionals.
Prepare accurate written reports describing the patient's condition, medical history, and treatment provided.
Provide accurate billing documentation.
Keep the vehicle sanitary and monitor fluid levels and gauges.
