About The Position

Superior Ambulance Service is hiring Paramedics for its Highland, Merrillville, and Portage locations. Founded in 1959, Superior is the largest independent, locally owned and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. It employs more than 4,000 licensed EMTs, Paramedics, and Nurses and operates more than 800 ambulances across Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The company also provides critical care, helicopter, and fixed-wing emergency medical transportation. EMTs and Paramedics provide safe transportation and quality medical care to sick and injured individuals within the scope of state EMS regulations. Superior provides care for emergencies and scheduled medical transports.

Requirements

NREMT certification or a current state license, or a license pending.
Ability to provide medical care at the EMT or Paramedic level while safely transporting patients.
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Ability to safely operate a vehicle in daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather conditions.
Pass a pre-employment interview, physical and lifting examination, drug screen, and background check.
Attend company-provided training and driving course.

Responsibilities

Provide appropriate patient care within Paramedic training.
Transport patients safely and efficiently, including reading maps and correctly identifying street names, house numbers, and business addresses.
Assess patients appropriately and accurately communicate their condition to other medical professionals.
Prepare accurate written reports describing a patient's condition, medical history, and treatment provided.
Complete appropriate billing documentation.
Maintain the vehicle in sanitary condition and monitor fluid levels and gauges.
