About The Position

To provide expedient emergency medical care to guest and hosts, in accordance with Silver Dollar City Attractions® EMS Protocols as authorized by our Medical Director. Facilitate and support the Emergency Medical Services and Occupational Health Programs. This is a Per Requested Need position.

Requirements

  • Maintain a current, valid Missouri EMT or Paramedic License; Current BLS Certification; Current, valid driver’s license, must be able to obtain a Missouri (Class E) License, or equivalent within 6 weeks of starting.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate, in person, via the radio, and in writing with guests and hosts. Ability to accurately, and informatively record medical data in a clear and concise manner. Edit work for spelling and grammatical accuracy. Actively listens, and get clarification. Respond appropriately to questions and constructive criticism.
  • Complete algebraic equations and mathematical calculations as appropriate for medical providers at license level. (i.e. adds, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole, fractions, and decimals) Perform drug calculations and ensure appropriate drug dosages.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and ongoing priority changes; adjust and handle emergency situations; make sound accurate decisions in stressful situations. Follow instructions and complete complex assignments.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, capacity to navigate and locate files in a windows-based computer system, and the ability to effectively navigate internet browsing software and input
  • Ability to interact with customers and hosts in a genuinely friendly, respectful, and caring manner while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan; ability to work flexible schedules, to include weekends, holidays and evenings. Must be willing to work any and all Silver Dollar City Attractions® Properties (SDC, WW, and SBB).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the host is frequently exposed to environment changes, to include extreme heat, extreme cold, wet, humid, and dry conditions. Work near moving mechanical parts; work at heights; around dust, mists, gases, chemicals, and vibration. Use of Personal Protective Equipment is required for this position. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Always observes safety and security procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions, properly utilizes equipment and materials. Must be able to lift and /or move a max weight of 108 pounds, and an average weight of 30 pounds Frequently, and up to 215 pounds occasionally with a two-person lift. Required to see near, far, have depth perception and color vision. Ability to see under poor lighting conditions and ability to adjust focus. Ability to work in and around water. Continuously required to stand; walk; finger movements, repetitive hand use, at rapid working speeds. Normal sensation and feeling; talk or hear and taste or smell; Frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and squat, kneel, bend, or crawl.

Responsibilities

  • Assess nature and extent of illness or injury, determine, and initiate care via appropriate protocols and procedures.
  • Establish the need for outside medical resources (i.e. ambulance or physicians)
  • Keep current on department and industry guidelines, protocols, procedures, and equipment
  • Prepare required reports and maintains a record of activities and patient contacts
  • Restock supplies, materials, and equipment
  • Clean and perform minor maintenance to First Aid vehicles, office, and resources
  • Greet and direct guests and hosts as they enter First Aid.
  • Other duties as assigned
