About The Position

The EMT, under the direction of the Registered Nurse, acts as a member of the healthcare team and performs delegated patient care duties in the assigned department. Duties include routine patient care procedures, treatments, and care activities according to hospital policies and procedures. Treatments may include simple dressing changes, wound care, enemas, urinary catheter insertion and care, ice and elevation of wounds, assisting patients with bedpans, and providing or assisting with food.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Emergency Medical Technician–Intermediate or Paramedic program.
• Licensed in the State of Tennessee as an Emergency Medical Technician–Intermediate or Paramedic.
• BLS/CPR Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• CPI certification required within 3 months of hire.

• Emergency Medical Technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Perform routine patient care procedures, treatments, and care activities in the assigned area according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Perform treatments such as simple dressing changes, wound care, enemas, urinary catheter insertion and care, and ice and elevation of wounds.
• Assist patients with placement on or removal from a bedpan.
• Provide food to patients or assist with feeding.
• Perform related duties as required and other duties assigned by the supervisor.
