EMT Dispatcher
About The Position
As a Communications Specialist (EMT Dispatcher), you will answer emergency medical and fire calls for service and dispatch ambulances and fire resources to locations requesting help. You will process emergency medical and fire-related calls using established protocols, provide callers with instructions to begin patient care and how to safeguard themselves until help arrives, and dispatch the closest appropriate response resource to the scene. You will also communicate safety concerns involving patients and responders to determine if additional precautions or equipment are needed. REMSA Health offers a full academy training program, including an onsite education facility for the EMT course, which must be completed within 6 months of hire if not already certified. This is a full-time position eligible for benefits.
Requirements
- EMT qualification
- Ability to pass Criticall Exam
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 wpm
- Ability to pass EMT Entrance Exam (if no prior EMT course completion)
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills
- Ability to multi-task, attentive to detail in various situations
- Ability to work any 12-hour shift (days, nights, weekends, and holidays)
Nice To Haves
- Prior medical or fire experience is preferred.
- Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification preferred
