Earn While You Learn EMT-Basic Student Program
About The Position
Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is seeking full-time students for their Earn While You Learn EMT-Basic program in Peoria, IL. This 8-week accelerated course, starting September 28, 2026, offers students the opportunity to earn $17.42 per hour while training. Upon successful completion of the program, passing the National Registry EMT exam, and obtaining a State EMT-Basic license, graduates will receive a full-time EMT-Basic position with AMT in Peoria and a wage increase. The application deadline is Wednesday, August 12, 2026. EMTs are responsible for patient care in emergency response, interfacility transports, and standby events, working 12-hour shifts.
Requirements
- Resume and Letter of Interest must be included with application
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license
- Commitment of one year of EMT service to AMT in a full-time capacity
- Must be able to provide proof of up to date immunizations
- Must successfully complete AMT-ordered post-offer occupational health screen that includes: drug screen, health physical, and physical ability test prior to the start of the class
Responsibilities
- Examine and evaluate patients to determine necessary care
- Provide patients with emergency care by utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment
- Document patient information, condition, and treatment
- Maintain patient confidentiality and perform all care with respect for patient rights
- Transport patients in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment in accordance with company vehicle check-off sheets and inventory requirements
- Operate and drive an ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies and laws
- Assist paramedics in all advanced life support situations
- Maintain current certification(s) according to provisions set forth by the governing licensure
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
- Present and promote a positive company image
