Guardian Ambulance is accepting applications for its December EMT training academy in Florence, South Carolina. The academy is provided by Guardian Ambulance in conjunction with a South Carolina Department of Public Health-approved training institution and is intended to prepare participants to become certified EMT-Basics. The start date is to be determined, estimated for the first or second week of December; the end date is also to be determined. The program lasts 16 weeks and combines online instruction, instructor-led in-person labs every two weeks, and clinical rotations. Participants will complete at least 10 live patient contacts at various Guardian Ambulance locations. Training times may change based on the schedule. Participants are expected to attend and fully engage in all classes, labs, and clinical rotations, and to promptly test for licensure after completing the course. Graduates are offered a full-time EMT-B position with Guardian Ambulance and must commit to at least 24 months of full-time employment following licensure. Students receive $16 per hour during the academy. Tuition, textbooks, uniforms, and licensing and National Registry exam fees are covered, including up to two National Registry Exam sittings within two months of successfully completing the academy.
