Summary of Position : The EMS Instructor & Clinical Liaison is responsible for assisting with clinical scheduling and placement, ensuring compliance with all clinical site requirements, and maintaining accurate, timely communication with students, faculty, and external partners. This position supports Clinical EMS programs by managing documentation, monitoring clinical capacity, and serving as a primary liaison to clinical sites. The role also delivers instruction, facilitates applied learning experiences, and upholds required licensure and academic standards while contributing to continuous program improvement. Teaching format will be in-person and hybrid. Teaching terms will be Fall/Spring/Summer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with two years (4,000 hours) of verifiable occupational experience in EMS field, one year (2,000 hours) must be in the last 5 years OR Associate’s degree in related field with 3.5 years (7,000 hours) of verifiable occupational experience in EMS field, one year (2,000 hours) must be in the last 5 years, and willing to obtain bachelor’s degree within 5 years
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • State of WI Paramedic License
  • Current Paramedic National Registry Certification
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • State of WI EMS Instructor II License (or able to obtain within 1 year)
  • Current AHA, BLS, ACLS, PALS Instructor Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Serve as liaison between clinic sites and Western EMS programs
  • Maintain clinical placement information across required site platforms, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely communication.
  • Communicate clinical schedule, changes, and site assignments to program clinical coordinators, along with other faculty, students, and partners as needed
  • Monitor clinical capacity and assist with enrollment and section management as needed
  • Provide documentation required or requested by the clinical sites
  • Ensure all required student & faculty documentation for clinical placement is complete, accurate, and submitted to clinical sites by established deadlines
  • Track and verify student compliance requirements (e.g., CPR certification, immunizations, background checks, drug screens) prior to clinical placement and relay student information to clinical coordinators/program faculty
  • Proactively monitor faculty information for expiring or missing documentation and follow up with faculty along with relaying missing faculty information to their dean or coordinator
  • Participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders related to clinical education
  • Deliver instruction across multiple modalities (F2F, IDL, online, hybrid, and on-site training for external partners).
  • Develop and deliver instructional materials and learning activities aligned with course outcomes.
  • Support students through one-on-one guidance, classroom engagement, referrals, and addressing concerns as appropriate.
  • Facilitate simulation sessions and other applied learning experiences as requested by the program.
  • Monitor student progress, evaluate performance, and maintain required academic and accreditation-related records.
  • Maintain required licensure and FQAS credentials and contribute to continuous improvement of curriculum, scheduling, and compliance processes.
