About The Position

The EMR Trainer will be responsible for providing education, guidance, coaching and training to individuals, groups, and/or outside business partners on the use of EMR and other computer systems, and applications across the St. Paul’s enterprise. This position will provide application support to multiple care settings and disciplines, including but not limited to end user application use, application testing, and the support of build activities identified during performance and change management assessments. Training sessions will consist of classroom settings, one on one education, electronic coaching and remote training webinars. Some general in-services to departments may also be necessary to meet training objectives. With your effective training curriculum, you will help maintain consistency of application charting in clinical and service areas and help facilitate the competency of the application(s) across both clinical and non-clinical departments. You will also help facilitate the implementation process of clinical systems in conjunction with designated super-users and project team leads.

Requirements

  • Proficient with use of computer systems and computer applications
  • Proficient with Office applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
  • Demonstrated teaching/training techniques and experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including patience
  • Ability to work staggered hours to meet the training needs of our staff members
  • Working knowledge of the general healthcare environment(s), workflows, and structure
  • Experience with EMR or Charting systems in a healthcare, geriatric or other human services area

Responsibilities

  • Assessing individual/group training needs by discipline and/or role
  • Planning, preparing and developing teaching lessons and materials
  • Revising and or developing some Policy and Procedures.
  • Training of CNAs, nurses, physicians, and ancillary staff on the proper use of the clinical software computer systems
  • Adopt best practice methodologies and teaching techniques to promote successful training of staff with different learning styles
  • Help to drive business initiatives, objectives, and quality performance indicators in clinical departments
  • Provide timely reports on staff core development and competencies
  • Maintain contact with department supervisors and managers to help facilitate use and address concerns with staff development and/or progress
  • Recommend minimum EMR and related technology performance standards for work groups including maximum training/coaching to be provided along with maximum time for skill accomplishment.
  • Report status of individual new hires who fall below standards to hiring authority.
  • Other duties as assigned by Information Technology Manager and project leads
