About The Position

The Mental Illness Recovery Center (MIRCI) is a non-profit organization that assists homeless individuals, both adults and youth, with clinical needs and permanent housing, and is seeking an Employment Success Specialist. Function: Under the direct supervision of the ACT Team Leader, this position provides employment support and mental health services to individuals served by the ACT Team. The role helps clients build stability, identify employment or education goals, overcome barriers, and maintain meaningful participation in the community. The position works collaboratively with the ACT Team, employers, vocational resources, and community partners to support each client's recovery and long-term success.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in the human services field is required.
  • Must have at least one year of experience working with adults with serious mental illness.
  • Must have at least six months of experience providing employment or educational support.
  • Must have a valid South Carolina driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Must have reliable transportation for travel within the local community.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing employment services or advanced education/field training in vocational services preferred.
  • Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct mental health services to ACT clients, including assessment of client needs, treatment planning, crisis support, and interventions that promote recovery, stability, and community integration.
  • Provides recovery-focused support to help clients strengthen coping skills, manage symptoms, improve daily functioning, and address barriers to stability and independence.
  • Provides direct vocational services to ACT clients, including career exploration, employment assessments, resume development, job applications, interview preparation, job search assistance, and employment readiness support.
  • Assists clients with obtaining and maintaining competitive employment through job development, employer outreach, job coaching, workplace support, follow-up services, and job retention strategies.
  • Completes timely and accurate documentation of clinical services, vocational services, client progress, employment contacts, treatment goals, and outcomes in accordance with agency and quality assurance standards.
  • Participates in ACT daily treatment team meetings, clinical supervision, treatment planning, crisis planning, and coordination of services to ensure mental health and employment goals are integrated into the client's overall recovery plan.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
