About The Position
The Employment Specialist supports individuals in the Supported Employment Program by providing job development, job training, advocacy, personal support, and services as needed. The role requires following directions, communicating clearly, performing simple math functions, and having knowledge of basic weights and measures. The position requires use of the employee’s own vehicle and a New York State driver’s license in good standing.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or four years of vocational experience.
- One year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
- A New York State driver’s license in good standing.
- Use of own vehicle for the position.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Provide job development to individuals in the Supported Employment Program.
- Provide intensive and extended job training.
- Provide advocacy, personal support, and services to individuals where necessary.
- Follow directions and communicate clearly.
- Perform simple math functions and use knowledge of basic weights and measures.
