The Employment Specialist role is part of the Supported Employment program, which assists individuals in exploring and concretizing their educational and employment-related aspirations. Services include customized care through a comprehensive vocational assessment, individual and group counseling, and linkages to the business community to broaden opportunities for clients. The Employment Specialist will conduct assessments to identify employment and educational needs, collaborate with individuals to create individualized, person-centered treatment plans, and document client progress. They will use motivational interventions to assist clients in meeting their goals and moving along their paths to recovery. This role also involves establishing rapport with employers in the community to develop a network for employment opportunities, maintaining documentation in compliance with agency and program standards, and participating in staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and other assigned meetings. Additional duties may include supporting individuals with linking to natural or community supports, developing crisis plans, providing skills teaching (e.g., housing, transportation, nutrition, communication, safety, childcare), offering intensive skill-building interventions for self-management, self-advocacy, health and well-being, relapse prevention, and community resource utilization, and participating in family education and support activities.
