About The Position

The Employment Specialist works in Vocational Services and reports to the Director of Vocational Services. The role assists individuals directly at job sites, identifies their supportive-service needs, and provides or arranges services to meet those needs. The specialist also supports consumers in competitive employment.

The position is full-time and non-exempt. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility as needed to meet program needs. The starting rate is $19–$21 per hour.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in human services and two years of experience; or a high school diploma/GED and four years of related experience. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Valid New York State driver’s license and compliance with the agency’s driving policy, including a satisfactory motor vehicle record. New hires or employees transferring to a new position must obtain a New York State driver’s license within six months of hire or transfer.
• Complete and maintain SCIP-R certification at the level required for program or site-specific needs.
• Communicate effectively and demonstrate patience and understanding of disabilities.
• Perform required lifting techniques without restrictions.
• Be trained in the Positive Approaches curriculum.
