About The Position

The Employment Specialist assists individuals directly at their job sites, identifies their supportive-service needs, and provides or arranges services to address those needs. The role supports consumers in competitive employment and is part of Vocational Services. The position is full-time and non-exempt, with a Monday–Friday schedule of 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. and flexibility as needed to meet program needs. The starting pay is $19–$21 per hour.

Requirements

• An associate degree in human services and two years of experience; or a high school diploma/GED and four years of related experience. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Valid New York State driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record under the Agency’s driving policy. New hires or employees transferring to a new position must obtain a New York State driver’s license within six months of hire or transfer.
• Complete and maintain SCIP-R certification at the level required for program- or site-specific needs.
• Communicate effectively and demonstrate patience and understanding of disabilities.
• Perform lifting techniques required by program- or site-specific needs without restrictions.
• Be trained in the Positive Approaches curriculum.
