About The Position

Indera is seeking an Employment Specialist 2 for a Farm Position. This role involves providing direct and indirect employment services to individuals enrolled in various programs, including Supported Employment (SEMP and ACCES-VR), Pathway to Employment, and Community Based Prevocational Services. The specialist will assist the Employment Services Coordinator in developing and implementing employment services at different locations, including Indera at Doc Marshall Farm.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years related experience working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills required.
  • Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable vehicle.
  • Proof of current auto insurance.
  • Acceptable driving record required.
  • Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by Indera’s technology policies.
  • Ability to work independently in individual’s homes and in community settings with sound decision making and judgment with a focus on fading support as the person increases skill level.
  • Team player with effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assist an individual with employment support needs, such as breaking down tasks, modeling tasks, redirection, assisting with reasonable accommodations, and facilitating relationships with employers and coworkers.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect services and supports to individuals receiving Supported Employment, Community Based Prevocational, Pathway to Employment, and other employment services, as per their Staff Action Plans and Life Plans.
  • Prepare and update schedules to ensure all individuals receive their enrolled services, arranging for coverage when unable to work.
  • Submit timely progress reports on individuals, including daily documentation.
  • Provide skill training and assistance by learning specific job duties and performance standards for obtained jobs (e.g., housekeeping, janitorial, maintenance, groundskeeping, grooming horses).
  • Develop work-related behaviors in service recipients, such as time and attendance, appropriate dress, communication skills, accepting supervision, and travel skills.
  • Conduct job development in the community, including situational assessments, observations, and job shadows to identify suitable job types for individuals.
  • Model work-related behaviors for service recipients.
  • Act as a liaison between the individual, family, employer, coworkers, other service providers, and the Employment Services Coordinator.
  • Assist individuals in acquiring a sense of belonging at the worksite and encourage participation in employee programs and socialization with coworkers.
  • Facilitate positive relationships between individuals and their employers/coworkers.
  • Train coworkers and communicate with supervisors on how to best work with newly placed individuals.
  • Provide personal care assistance as needed to ensure the individual’s safety, health, and hygiene.
  • Follow assigned days and hours of services, providing safe transportation as needed.
  • Attend required training and meetings.
  • Conduct oneself in a manner that contributes to maximum individual growth and complies with all regulations and agency policies.
  • Accomplish other job-related tasks as needed or assigned.
