Requirements

  • Completion of post-secondary education in related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in employment services, with a strong understanding of workforce development and client-centered approaches
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, develop, and performance-manage a growing team with varying levels of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and monitor financial processes, and ensure compliance with funding agreements
  • Ability to create structure within a developing team by clarifying roles, reinforcing expectations, and ensuring staff understand how their work contributes to overall team and organizational goals.
  • Experience in building and sustaining partnerships with employers, funders, and community organizations
  • Comfortable navigating difficult conversations and addressing performance or operational concerns.
  • Strong understanding of performance targets, KPIs, and outcome-based service delivery
  • Knowledge of local labour market trends and ability to apply data-driven insights to program development
  • Strong administrative and office management skills, including resource planning and quality assurance
  • Intermediate computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital tools for virtual service delivery
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Experience implementing inclusive practices and fostering a culture aligned with JAIDE principles
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required
  • Ability to work in a virtual and hybrid environment
  • Acceptable Police Check

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations of the Employment Services, building the team and program from the ground up.
  • Foster a positive, empowering environment where staff are supported and equipped to help clients find meaningful employment.
  • Coordinate staffing and resources while building strong relationships with local employers, funders, and community partners to enhance program offerings.
  • Oversee the disbursement of financial support to clients and ensure accurate reporting for both the YMCA and funders.
  • Support your team in their day-to-day work, guiding them through challenges, encouraging innovation, and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Manage program budgets, evaluate service delivery methods, and lead quality assurance efforts to continuously improve outcomes.
  • Cultivate strong internal and external partnerships, fostering collaboration to enhance the impact of Employment Services.
  • Maintain open dialogue within the YMCA, engage with stakeholders, and stay informed about job market trends through workshops, trainings, and conferences.
  • Lead with care and purpose, ensuring Employment Services remains an effective, inclusive, and responsive program that evolves with the needs of the community, our clients, and our team.
