About The Position

Since 1997, ALSO has been committed to fostering independence and community inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through employment support, residential living, and in home services. As an Employment Professional (Job Coach) at ALSO, you’ll support people who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities at work through on-the-job training, advocacy, and skill building. Your role is to help ensure successful and meaningful employment relationships between individuals and their employer through oversight, mentorship, and hand-on support. Full-time or part-time available, weekends and evenings may be included, some variability in schedules to match with people we support and their own adjusting work schedules. Having a reliable vehicle to be able to self-transport to multiple sites within a workday is essential to success in this position!

Requirements

  • Be dependable and punctual; with the ability to travel to multiple sites within a workday.
  • A valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle are vital to success in this position.
  • Be able to lift, transfer, push/pull, maneuver and reposition 50 lbs.
  • Be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Have a high school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Be able to prepare written reports via computer using proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • All candidates considered for employment are required to successfully pass a comprehensive background check prior to joining ALSO and ongoing every two years.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in I/DD support services is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide employment training and mentorship using a cue, model, and step-back framework.
  • Provide hands-on support, supervision, and skills-building to foster confidence and independence at work.
  • Cultivate supportive and responsive connections with individuals, employers, and community partners to establish ALSO as a reliable provider of employment support.
  • Maintain accurate records, including timekeeping, daily reports, and updates on individual progress toward support plan goals.
  • Report any individual changes or updates to your team to promote collaborative and consistent employment support.
  • Collaborate with families, transportation providers, and other support professionals to ensure individuals are set up for employment success.
  • Foster positive employment relationships by ensuring employer expectations are met while individuals have the accommodations need to be successful in their role.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and positive professional communication.
  • Encourage taking time off when needed while following protocols for schedule change requests.
