The employment consultant provides a variety of community-based employment services to individuals with disabilities seeking to become employed, advance within their current position, or reenter employment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, or related Human Services field plus a minimum of 2 years related experience with program development and training working with individuals with disabilities required.
• Valid driver’s license, per state law, and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required.
• Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to become familiar with corporate specific programs and software.
• Detail-oriented and able to carry out work with the highest levels of accuracy.
• Must be a self-starter and be able to develop service plans for individuals with a variety of disabilities and required accommodations.
• Must possess time management and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent oral/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide job exploration counseling by providing the career scope, (a standardized, timed interest and aptitude assessment for education and career guidance) and generate a report summarizing each assessment result.
• Build and maintain professional and productive relationships with participants, members of participants support network, and funding/referral sources providing ongoing communication, soliciting input, requesting satisfaction surveys and providing thorough documented reports.
• Develop relationships with current and potential employers resulting in knowledge of current employment, assessment, and training opportunities for participants.
• Maintain files according to policy and procedures to ensure consistent standards are met for regulatory entities.
• Develop, implement, and document individualized service plans for individuals to include skills training, pre-employment training, situational assessments, job development, job coaching, and long-term support for both competitive and supported employment.
• Assist in marketing activities by submitting stories for social media and newsletters and creating materials.
• Participate in community activities and/or provider events coordinated by referral agencies.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
