About The Position

The Employment Assistant will be responsible for assessing client skills and job readiness, assisting clients in planning job searches, and conducting training on various employment-related topics. This role involves developing and maintaining employer networks, conducting job checks, and creating/updating a job board. The position requires maintaining accurate client records and appropriate professional boundaries.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license and a driving record that does not preclude the employee from being covered by Agency liability insurance.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Accuracy and strong organizational skills required.
  • Must have the cognitive skills needed to complete tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for decision making, problem solving, and comprehending.
  • Has the ability to perform under stress and/or in emergencies.
  • Must have ability to effectively work with Agency employees, outside contacts, and a diverse client population.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Employment placement experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses client’s skills and job readiness through approved methods.
  • Assists clients in planning structured/effective job searches.
  • Conducts training on employment issues including, but not limited to: job readiness, vocational choices, resume creating, personal grooming, job searching, interviewing and follow up, appropriate behavior on the job, and job retention skills.
  • Maintains accurate records of clients’ employment and vocational training while in the program.
  • Develops a network of employers for potential job opportunities. Maintains positive and professional communication with established job contacts.
  • Conducts on site and telephonic job checks of clients who are currently working.
  • Completes an Incident Report immediately for unknown whereabouts when a job check is unsuccessful.
  • Refers clients to prospective employers and monitors progress of clients on the job; accurately documents observations in a timely manner.
  • Creates, updates, and maintains job board for facility in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintains appropriate boundaries with clients as outlined in Agency Code of Ethics and other policies.
