Position Summary: The Employer Partnerships and Career Services Specialist is a proactive and strategic professional responsible for enhancing employment opportunities for SFBU university students and graduates. Reporting to the Director of Career Services, this role develops and implements strategies to increase job and internship opportunities, maintains strong relationships with employers at regional, state, national, and international levels, and collaborating with faculty, staff, and various university departments. Key responsibilities include creating and executing marketing strategies for corporate and community engagement, managing data and reports on employment trends, participating in career development events and advising students on career options. Note: Exempt, full-time position, located in Fremont, California. Candidates must reside in the local area or be willing to relocate.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree and three years of work experience in a corporate/industry or university career services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative ideas and strategies to develop and manage employer partnerships.
  • Proactively develop and implement strategies designed to increase employment opportunities (internships and post-graduate positions) for university students and alumni.
  • Strategically identify and build relationships with regional, state, national, and international employers for the recruitment of university students and alumni.
  • Facilitate relationships between employers and the university community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni association, foundation, etc.
  • Work closely with corporate partners to develop internship opportunities for students.
  • Work closely with corporate partners and internal staff to develop part-time job opportunities for students.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Employer Advisory Board.
  • Serve on the university’s External Relations Committee to manage corporate relationships with other university staff members.
  • Manage a case load of students by meeting with them at least once a year and addressing their career development needs and plans.
  • Meet regularly with students in one-on-one or group situations to advise on employment strategies for finding internships and full-time positions.
  • Serve as a back up in advising and approving Career Practical Training (CPT).
  • Develop and manage various marketing campaigns and strategies for enhancement of employer presence on campus, which includes, but not limited to: campus recruitment, job postings, internships, career fairs, class/organization presentations, and resume searches.
  • Design and develop employer and employment marketing material, compose content, and coordinate timing of communications to employers.
  • Participate actively in various local, state, regional, and national organizations such as chambers of commerce, societies of human resource management, NACE, alumni chapters, etc.
  • Assist in budget planning, strategic planning, goal setting, monthly and annual reports, etc.
  • Assist in the management of the Employer Database.
  • Compile and report data on employer relations activities, assess employer relations efforts, and provide feedback as to the effectiveness of such efforts.
  • Track job market demand, use of career services, trends in recruiting, job-offer data, and hiring results for students in various academic majors.
  • Report results to NACE, academic deans, and the president.
  • Formulate strategies for achieving greater participation rates for those majors that underuse available career resources.
  • Attend administrative staff meetings.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Represent Career Services on campus and in the community as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with various networks to increase employment opportunities for students.
  • Develop and present an annual calendar of events specifically related to advancing employer partnership opportunities; educating students about corporate positions and issues; and developing possible internships and full-time jobs for SFBU students.
  • Participate in and support career development programs coordinated by career services, including, but not limited to workshops, employer seminars, meetings within and outside of career services, and other special projects and initiatives of career services.
  • Manage annual events budget.
  • Develop creative initiatives using AI and other updated technology.
  • Co-manage various technology platforms used by Career Services. These include but are not limited to: Handshake, Virtual Internships, and Coursera.
