About The Position

Michael Kors is seeking an Employee Relations Generalist for their West Coast operations. This role supports the Michael Kors Retail North America team by developing strong relationships with team members and leaders to foster positive employee relations. The Generalist will provide consultation, guidance, and coaching to field teams, ensuring proper handling of employee relations issues and adherence to policies. A key part of the role involves conducting investigations, managing performance management processes in collaboration with the legal department, and administering corrective actions. The position also requires gathering and analyzing employee relations data to identify trends, pinpoint training needs, and ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations. Additionally, the Generalist will conduct exit interviews, analyze trends, and produce reports on various employee relations metrics. Confidentiality and appropriate escalation of issues are critical, as is supporting global HR initiatives and special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-3 years of progressive HR experience in employee relations, conflict resolution, or related HR function
  • Experience in handling employee relations issues and dealing with labor laws
  • Knowledge and practical application of all HR discipline and practices
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and resolve conflict.
  • Ability to be analytical and problem solve
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

Responsibilities

  • Support the Michael Kors Retail North America team, developing effective relationships with team members and people leaders to promote positive employee relations.
  • Provide consultation, guidance, and coaching solutions to field teams to ensure the appropriate handling and resolution of employee relations issues and advise on policies and procedures.
  • Conduct investigations in response to employee complaints, tracking cases through internal case management software.
  • Recommend and approve performance management action plans in partnership with the legal department.
  • Manage the disciplinary process for employees and administer corrective action in partnership with field leadership.
  • Gather and analyze employee relations data and help to identify trends.
  • Identify training and development needs to enhance employee experience and performance.
  • Maintain compliance and understanding with federal and state regulations concerning employment practices.
  • Conduct exit interviews of voluntary terminations; analyze trends and recommend solutions.
  • Produce reporting on exit interviews, hotline calls, and corrective action documents.
  • Handle confidential information appropriately and escalate issues as needed.
  • Support company-wide global HR initiatives.
  • Assist in special projects when necessary.
