Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent career experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of direct experience in pharmacy, PBMs, or related industries, including at least 5 years in a sales operations or account management role with proven success.
  • Deep knowledge of PBM contracts, clinical pharmacy, or experience in analysis and negotiations related to pharmacy manufacturers and products.
  • Experience leading teams, managing projects, and developing strategic partnerships.
  • Consultative presence with polished written and oral communication skills, capable of simplifying complex ideas.
  • Strategic thinker who challenges the status quo by asking tough questions and innovating solutions.
  • Strong influence and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with management and cross-functional teams at all levels.
  • Commitment to staying current with developments in pharmacy and broader health and benefits plan strategies, contributing to new tools and approaches.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel as needed, this role’s travel expectation is no more than 25%.
  • State Life and Health license required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a primary pharmacy benefits consultant and strategic partner for MMA SE field offices and a book of clients, managing pharmacy benefit programs end-to-end.
  • Lead client pharmacy market bids, RFPs, and Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) vendor procurement and negotiations.
  • Conduct pharmacy analytics with the SE Pharmacy Practice analytic partners of PBM financial and operational performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Present results, recommendations, and overall pharmacy benefit consulting to clients, prospects, and internal teams during several types of meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external clinical pharmacists, actuarial, financial, analytics, health management, and wellbeing teams to develop multi-year integrated pharmacy and clinical strategies.
  • Co-lead regular training sessions for MMA SE colleagues on clinical and pharmacy topics to enhance knowledge and support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with MMA SE offices, producers, client teams, and strategic partners.
  • Drive growth by serving as the pharmacy benefits expert in new client pursuits, crafting tailored messaging and solutions with the Regional Director of Pharmacy to expand pharmacy benefits revenue.
  • Contribute pharmacy insights to broader health and benefits strategy and growth initiatives.
  • Develop new pharmacy approaches and engage with new solution vendors to explore strategic partnerships and solution opportunities.
  • Demonstrate leadership by mentoring other consultants within the pharmacy practice.
  • Support strategic partnerships through their launch, maintenance, and enhancement.
  • Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy practice, including coordinating workflow, supporting process improvements, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy practice leadership to implement operational policies and procedures that enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Support resource planning and allocation to meet client demands and project timelines effectively.
