About The Position

Serves as the District's subject matter expert (SME) for all employee benefits programs. This role provides both expert-level technical oversight of all benefits’ functions of research and recommendations regarding employee benefits. Responsibilities encompass the end-to-end oversight of all benefits programs including general oversight to assigned areas of responsibility. Specializing in employee benefits ensuring full compliance with applicable Federal and Oregon state laws, Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS), District Board policies, and collective bargaining agreements (CBAs). This position works independently, makes decisions within their area of expertise, and is expected to demonstrate professionalism and support District values. The Employee Benefits Specialist serves as a trusted technical advisor to administrators, principals, supervisors, and employees throughout the District, and partners cross-departmentally with Human Resources, Payroll, and Risk Management to ensure integrated, accurate, and legally defensible benefits administration.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
  • Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
  • Experience in strong organizational systems
  • Ability to interpret policies, regulations, and documentation related to employee benefits
