About The Position

This 6-week paid internship is designed to introduce recent college graduates to the insurance industry, specifically in employee benefits. The program offers structured mentorship, real exposure to client work, and full sponsorship towards obtaining a Life & Health insurance license. Interns who demonstrate aptitude and enthusiasm may have the opportunity to convert to a full-time role post-internship. The program aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the employee benefits landscape, from health and wellness to retirement planning, and client relationship management within a professional brokerage setting.

Requirements

  • Recent college graduate or December graduate with a degree in Business, Finance, HR, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • No prior insurance or employee benefits experience required; a genuine desire to enter the industry is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a self-starter mentality.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in a professional environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Coursework or internship experience in financial services, HR, or a client-facing environment is a plus but not required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Rotate through major areas of benefits, including health and wellness, retirement planning, life, and disability insurance.
  • Gain exposure to client relationships and consultative approaches in a professional brokerage setting.
  • Learn the basics of insurance and the importance of employee benefits.
  • Understand various benefit programs such as health insurance (HMOs, PPOs), wellness programs, life and disability coverage, and retirement plans (401(k), pensions).
  • Participate in role-playing scenarios for client interactions, claims, and enrollment.
  • Shadow a Senior Client Executive to observe real client work.
  • Build and present a proposed benefits program for a hypothetical employer.
  • Attend weekly one-on-one check-ins with an assigned mentor.
  • Network with guest speakers and professionals across Venbrook's business units.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to the tools and platforms used by the team.
  • Study and prepare for the state Life & Health insurance license exam.
